Royal Avebe has committed to set near- and long-term company-wide emission reductions in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Net-Zero Standard. These include emission targets in line with the Paris Climate Agreement, which aims to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius and achieve a climate-neutral continent by 2050. Our commitment with the SBTi represents our next step towards a more sustainable future.
Science-based targets
Avebe has committed to the science-based net-zero standard. The next step is to submit emission targets and have them approved by the SBTi. Working with science-based targets helps us assess whether efforts are sufficient to meet climate goals. Sustainability is a fundamental part of Avebe’s strategy. To reduce our footprint, we have seven sustainability programs that focus on making our fields, operations and entire supply chain more sustainable.
About the SBTi
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. The SBTi’s goal is to accelerate companies across the world to support the global economy to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero before 2050.
The initiative is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments. The SBTi defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting, offers resources and guidance to reduce barriers to adoption, and independently assesses and approves companies’ targets.
